Greetings SBMS Families!

library_news.jpgThe temperature may be getting colder outside but things are heating uCabin Fever.jpgp in the LMC…New books have arrived!  Check out DestinyQuest and visit the LMC through December to see a display dedicated to the newest books to arrive at SBMS!  CABIN FEVER (Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series #6) will be hitting our shelves soon too! 

Book Club Graphic.jpgIn late October the new SBMS Book Clubs launched!  The 5/6 Book Club meets on Tuesdays during lunch and the 7/8 Book Club meets on Thursdays during lunch.  Members dine in the LMC for a full period of engaging and interactive adventures in literacy!

In upcoming meetings, club members will break into teams, explore literary options, choose books to read, and much more!  The book clubs will be embarking on mystifying adventures of discovery and wonder as explorations of various websites relates to new additions to the LMC begin!

HOTCOCOA.jpgIn December, members can look forward to some themed meetings like… Elf on the BOOK-Shelf and GENRE CHERADES!  Oh and just wait until the frosty weather because hot cocoa will be flowing in the LMC…The SBMS Book Club is not an ordinary book club!  It will empower students and show how literacy can brighten horizons, challenge personal reading goals and embrace varied genres in undeniably exciting ways all the while nurturing positive interpersonal relationships, building confidence and making good middle school memories! Who knows…Maybe one our students will one day author a book on the memories made here at Stone Bridge…Sure to be a BEST SELLER!  J

logo_six-flags.jpgIt is always a good time to read but the chilly winter months are the perfect time to get warm and cozy while curled up with a good book, Nook or ANY reading material!  Students in grades 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to participate in the SIX FLAGS READ TO SUCCEED program between December and February.  More information is available in the LMC and the following website:  READ TO SUCCEED DETAILS 

Glide into 2012 with thrills and excitement by reading and earning a free pass to spend a fun-filled day right down the road at SIX FLAGS!
