NES Celebrates WEEK OF RESPECT–Tuesday, October 4-Friday, October 7.
Week of Respect – The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.L.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year (October 3-7 in 2016) be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey. To recognize the importance of character education, school districts, charter schools and Renaissance school projects are required to observe the week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing HIB
What does this mean for NES?
It means character education. It means talking about the CARES program in our classes. It means implementing the Olweus CARES lessons focused on building friendships and identifying bullying behavior. It means doing what we currently do.
In addition, there are a number of useful resources out there to assist with class activities, discussions and/or issues to celebrate the week.
