NES honored our 4th grade students on Wednesday, June 4th by hosting our annual 4th Grade Farewell/Step-Up Day. Students and teachers visited Stone Bridge Middle School where we held our student assembly celebrating our 4th grade students. During the assembly, Mrs. Huggins and Ms. Silva highlighted special events during the 2014 school year and a few students were selected to share their fondest memory. A special congratulations to Zachary Smith, Alex Riccardi, Jolee Roth, Elizabeth Myers, Hannah Swale and Sana Raza who shared their memories. We heard about flying pancakes in the classroom to make learning fun, we heard what it is like to be a new student, we heard about how dedicated the staff of NES are, and we learned a very important message from one of our readers, “Getting far isn’t the accomplishment, not giving up was. Doing your best is good, but you need courage to not give up.”
Mrs. Huggins recognized and announced each fourth grade student by name and they received a certificate in memory of their time at NES. Ms. Negro, Principal of Stone Bridge Middle School, shared a few important points about SBMS. She briefly introduced what it means to find your “True North” the Redbird 4 Program, and the SUN Program (Stand United Against Bullying). Be sure to ask your child about these important programs that they will be participating at SBMS.
The assembly program ended with a chorus performance from the 7th grade chorus and a tour of the middle school. It was a wonderful way to introduce our 4th grade students to their new school: Stone Bridge Middle School.
