Yesterday there were two principals in NES. Daniel Starzynski, a fourth grader in Ms. Lee-You’s class, spent the day with me as this year’s Principal for the Day. Daniel began his day by greeting the children at the buses in the morning and seeing them safely into the school. After that he did a security check of the building with Mr. Taylor, NES’s security monitor, who explained what he looks for on his tour of the building. During the morning we visited lots of classrooms and then it was on to the lunchroom where Daniel talked with some of the children and also inspected the kitchen. The afternoon was just as busy: We checked email, visited some more classrooms, and supervised the dismissal. Of course, Daniel also made an annoucement over the PA system. Asked to tell what his favorite part of the day, he said, “getting to hang out with the principal all day.” Thank you Daniel, you did a great job.
