Hour of Code, Dec. 8-12

Hi UFRSD Parents and Students,
I hope you had a terrific weekend! Congrats to our AHS football team and coaches on a job well done this season!

This week marks the beginning of a worldwide initiative that is promoting coding (computer programming/app building) amongst all students. The hope of the initiative is that all students will experience an hour of code sometime during the week.

Why is coding important? See this video for some good examples:

Many countries are implementing coding into national curriculums. The great part of the week is that you, as the teacher, parent or student, really don’t need to know much about coding because they have very good resources (for all ages) that kids can navigate through on their own.

If your interested in knowing more about it or having kids experience the Hour of Code visit http://code.org for the best resources.

Additionally, the following two sites are terrific as well:

If you decide to try this, please let me know how it goes!
Thanks and have a wonderful week!
