Productive Conversations

Last night, we met with our band parents to explain the rationale for moving band to the mornings, before school. I am always energized and uplifted to have conversations with parents that focus on what is best for kids. I want to thank those of you who came out to share your thoughts and ideas!

Below is a link to the slides from our presentation that explain the rationale for our decision. I will keep you posted as new information comes.

Thanks again!

"Every choice we make causes a ripple in our lives and the lives of others."

~ Chelle Thompson

Dear Stone Bridge Students and Parents,

We simply can't wait for the school year to begin! We are excited to see each of you return on September 6th. The hallways and classrooms are ready to have your spirit and energy back. We ask that you return with an excitement and passion for learning, because you are the very ones that make SBMS such a magnificent place.  We look forward to seeing your smiles as the new school year begins.

I hope your summer has been a relaxing and refreshing break. I was able to relax a little by vacationing with my wife, Jessica, and my daughter, Grayson, in Virginia Beach. Getting away from the school gave me an opportunity to re-energize and think about the high expectations we have for each of you. I spent the rest of the summer at SBMS fine tuning the things we already do well and working to improve the things that need to get better.

The 2012-2013 school year will be one that is filled with optimism and promise. We want you to join us once again in creating new, memorable moments that can be cherished for a lifetime.  We also ask that you set your sights on those goals that we (your parents and school) have set forth for you and look past them, setting your own goals for the upcoming year.  You are the ones who have the potential to create a school year that is really wonderful and brilliant; our hope is that we can guide you all in the direction to reach each and every one of the goals you set for yourselves.  While you might be sad that summer has quickly come to an end, as always, we welcome you back with open arms, and we are truly looking forward to starting the school year with you.

We have four simple expectations for you: 1) Do everything you can to Discover YOUR True North. 2) Be models of the Redbird 4. 3) Stand UNited Against Bullying. 4) In everything you do, do/be your personal best. We will do everything we can to help you meet and exceed these expectations.

We are also very grateful to know that we have a community of parents who go above and beyond to support our students and staff.  We would like to thank you (our parents) for your continued help and support, and we look forward to working with you again this year.  We know that we cannot find more suitable teammates than you; your children are extremely lucky, as are all of us here at SBMS.

We wanted to share with you some information that you might find helpful prior to the first day of school.  This letter includes your homeroom, information regarding the opening of school (date/times), arrival/dismissal information, new faculty members, the attendance procedure, security and safety information, and important dates to remember. Please take time to carefully review all of the information in this letter. If you need more information or have any questions, please call the school, and we will do everything we can to help.

Enjoy the final days of the summer. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, September 6th! Get ready to Discover True North!

Carpe Diem,

Mr. Guterl

  • Student Placement: Your homeroom teacher and room number for this school year are listed below. On the first day of school, we will be sure to show you how to get to your homeroom. During homeroom, you will receive a copy of your full schedule.

Grade:                                                                 Teacher:                                                            Room #:

  • SBMS starting / ending times: Our day will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m.

·         First Day: The first day of school is Thursday, September 6th.   The SBMS faculty and staff are very excited to see you! When you arrive, there will be many people to show you along your way.

·         Arrival: Student arrival begins at 7:55 a.m. If you are dropping your child off in the morning, you can drop them off at the main entrance. The buses will bring all bus students to our Student Entrance in the back of the building.

  • Dismissal:  All students will dismiss from the back or side entrance (cafeteria side) of the building. Bus students will leave from the back entrance.  Students should know their bus dock number so that it is easier to locate buses in the afternoon. All students being picked up by parents will leave from the side entrance (cafeteria side).

·         Parent Parking/Dropping Off:  It is very important, for the safety of our students, that all parents follow the guidelines that we have set forth for parent drop-off and pick-up. Although, at times, you may need to wait a minute or two, please be assured that all procedures are in the best interest of the safety of our students. If you are being dropped off, your parents should do so at the main entrance of the building. If you are being picked up (at the end of the day), your parents will park along the sidewalk by the cafeteria. For student safety, parents should not pick up students on the bus dock behind the building.

·         New SBMS Faculty Members:

We would like to introduce the new members of SBMS. I'm sure you will join me in welcoming them to our SBMS family. We are thrilled to have such talented and dedicated individuals joining our SBMS family.

·         Attendance Procedure -- If you are going to be out of school or late for any reason, make sure that your parent calls the school at (609) 223-3650 or emails Mrs. Hampson ( Our voice mail system works 24-hours a day for your convenience. Your parent's message should include your full name, homeroom teacher, the reason for the absence, and how long you will be out of school. Student attendance in school is imperative for your success. Please remember that the State of New Jersey requires students to be in school every day.

·         Security Procedures - Building Access

The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance. All doors throughout the building will be locked at all times, including the arrival and departure of students.  This will require all parents / visitors to report to the main entrance to be "buzzed" in at all times.
