Our intrepid band of 16 educators first met on Sunday, July 9, 2000 and introduced themselves over Mexican food, travel horror stories and jet lag. We compared every new name with the email descriptions of ourselves and tried to put every name with the correct face. We had been brought to Tucson with one common goal, to learn as much about using Astronomy in Research Based Science Education in our collective classrooms and to survive the heat. Make that two goals, RBSE in the class, heat survival and to build solar telescopes. So we actually had three goals.
