This year's class of ace-some Astronomy students put together a seriously hard core project for the third grade classes at the elementary school. Acting on a request by third grade teachers Lesley Walulak and Louise Barber, the students designed a miniature golf course using the solar system as our inspiration. Each student in the class chose a different body in the solar system, designed his or her golf hole on some aspect of that object and constructed their final project with the monetary aid of an Excellence in Teaching Grant and the technical support of wood shop teacher Charles Kirkpatrick.

Because the class included thirteen hard working students, the finished course includes each of the planets plus the Sun, a comet, the asteroid belt and the Moon. The class researched their respective heavenly bodies and designed a golf hole to reflect something unique about that solar system object. They even wrote questions for the student players to answer. Correct answers equal points deducted from the players' final score. The course is a par 43.
