Stories in the Night Sky

"For as long as human beings have had language, they have had myths. Mythology is our earliest form of literary expression and the foundation of all history and morality. Myth is an eternal mirror in which we see ourselves. Myth has something to say to everyone, as it has something to say about everyone. It is everywhere and we only need to recognize it."

These words were taken from the preface to a wonderful book by J.F. Bierlein called "Parallel Myths." It looks at the common threads that weave themselves through the great classical mythologies of the world. I have been fascinated by mythology since early childhood and have collected and read dozens of books on the subject without losing that desire to learn even more.

The following pages contain my attempt to put some of this information into perspective, to collect the information that fascinates me and will help anyone who happens across this work. My bibliography will undoubtedly contain several works that are no longer in print. True fans of any genre and book collectors in particular know that "Out of Print" is just another way of making a treasure more deserving of discovery.

Enjoy the reading.
